Get to Know the Larger 2017 Honda CR-V

If you put the 2017 Honda CR-V side by side with the previous model year, you will notice that is more spacious and there is plenty of styling sophistication. The newest CR-V has some clear influences from the Civic with additional features, including plenty of technology. The fifth-generation of the CR-V, the 2017 model will be just a smidge longer and 1.4 inches taller and wider. Even so, it drops around 58 pounds of weight. In terms of features, the Touring trim lets you open the rear hatch without your hands with a wave of your foot. There is also a new 1.5-liter turbocharged engine on the higher trim levels. It has a slightly higher output than the base engine but peaks torque at just 2,000 rpm, helping deliver torque without excessive revving.

Inside, the CR-V will have some minor changes, including the return of a physical volume knob. Experts are looking forward to the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, Garmin navigation, and a 7-inch touchscreen, as well. The 2017 CR-V also has more advanced safety features than the competition. Most trims come standard with lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control.

Moving Production

At the moment, a large quantity of the Honda CR-V’s production takes place in Mexico. However, the automaker has plans to change this. Honda will be shifting production of this model to the United States to help give it an edge over the competition. Honda will also be increasing the overall number of CR-Vs made in North America. It will make these models in Alliston, Ontario, and East Liberty, Ohio, along with in Greensburg, Indiana. The CR-V has never been produced at the last of these plants before. In addition, it will take over the production from a Mexican factory. That plant currently builds Civics, and that will continue.
