Many Honda vehicles come with the Honda Navigation System built-in to the dashboard. Maps are stored inside of the system as software, so will become out of date as soon as new roads and intersections are developed.
Below are instructions on how to update the maps on a standard Honda Navigation System.
1.) Check for updates annually. Honda Navigation System Updates are released annually in a DVD format. You need to purchase the latest version from Navteq. Once your new Honda Navigation DVD arrives in the mail, you can begin the following installation process.
2.) Turn your Honda’s ignition on and keep it running – the navigation system should boot up automatically.
3.) Press “eject” on the DVD tray. On most Honda navigation systems, this will be a part of the dashboard, but in some older models it is found underneath the passenger seat.
4.) Remove your Honda’s old disc and insert the updated one.
5.) Click “yes.” The navigation system’s screen will ask you if you want to install new map updates. Click “yes” to proceed.
6.) Key in the ID number from your DVD. The navigation system will prompt you enter in your customer I.D. and serial number. This can be found on the DVD packaging, so don’t throw it away!
7.) Wait. Once you have entered your unique serial number the new maps will start to load into the navigation system. The process should take no longer than 20 minutes.
Once you have followed these easy steps, your new navigation system is ready to go. Be sure to keep your Honda’s navigation system up to date to avoid getting lost! If you need any help with your navigation system update, then don’t hesitate to come see us at Barbour Hendrick Honda.
