During the summer time, the people of Greenville and others nearby can participate in a variety of fun runs to raise money for local charities and associations! Of course, these races allow you to get a good exercise session in. However, they can also function as a social gathering for you and your friends! What could be more fun than working out with the motivation of raising money for kids and charities?
5k Strides for Scholars
On May 20th, 2017, gather with the Koinonia Community Development Center of Greenville to participate in the 5K strides for scholars. This event takes place at 8 AM sharp. The starting line for the race is at the Holiday Inn, located at 203 SW Greenville Blvd in Greenville, NC. The Cost of registration is $25.00. T-shirts are guaranteed for participants who sign up before Sunday, May 7th, 2017.
This annual event takes place to raise money to support the student services for youth up to age 18. The money goes towards various summer camp programs, tutoring, early childhood education programs, leadership camps, mentor-ships, reading programs, and educational workshops. Many of this run’s values indicate a love for all children and believe in investing in the success of the youth. Fiesta Biathlon
Are you looking for all the fun of bike riding and a healthy 5K that will benefit the people of Shelby? If so, the Fiesta Biathlon is the choice you have been searching for! This race takes place Sunday, May, 21st, and registration ends May 18th. The event location is Bicycle Post 530 Cotanche St Greenville, NC US 27858. All Proceeds benefit FROGGS, The Friends of Greenville Greenways. FROGGS is a group of individuals who enhance the water quality production of the city. They also provide endless educational operatives, while simultaneously providing additional recreation and fitness opportunities within the city and a bunch more. The race includes a 5K run and 15-mile bike and includes both individual and team divisions. Registration fees vary and volunteers are always welcome! Sign up here, and get ready to participate!
CareNet Hope 5K Run
Counseling East (CNCE) is hosting their annual 5K and fun run to raise awareness about strong mental health. “CNCE’s mission is to improve the health of the mind, body, spirit, and community through faith-integrated counseling, psychotherapy, research, and education.” Check out their website to learn more about their cause! Some of the upcoming races include a 5K run on at the USATF-certified race course and a 1M fun run/walk. All people and ages are welcome to this event. Registration for both races ends June 1st and fees vary from $25-$30. The race begins at 8 AM and t-shirts and goodie bags are awarded to all participants who pay.
