This will be the North Carolina State Fair’s 150th year, so you know the organizers are going to go big. Stop by the fairgrounds in Raleigh Oct. 12–22 to take part in the fun. Check out what’s new for 2017 and gets some tips for attending the North Carolina State Fair.
What’s New for 2017
You can’t be around for 150 years without knowing how to change things up. The change begins with the 150th Kickoff Day. It’s all about 150 during this day. Get in for $1.50 and pick up food for $1.50 from participating vendors. You might even be lucky enough to win one of the 150 free passes handed out each hour.
This year will also have flights of beer and wine available for purchase and new entertainment options. This is all proof that the state fair just gets better with age.
Now let’s look at some tips for attending the fair.
Take the Shuttle
Finding parking is a real hassle at the state fair. It’s incredibly crowded, so can spend more time looking for a space than eating fair food and riding rides. Avoid that problem by taking one of the GoRaleigh N.C. State Fair Park and Ride Shuttles. GoRaleigh offers a daily shuttle service to the fairground’s gates, so you can get dropped right off in front. This also makes it easier to go with friends. You can ride the shuttle together and then everyone can go home when they want instead of waiting for everyone else.
Bring Snacks
Fair food is delicious, but you might not want to eat every meal there. It gets pricey and will cut into your ride budget. You’re allowed to bring bags with some snacks and drinks to the fair with you. That’s a good way to save some cash. You can still enjoy some fair food, but you won’t have to buy quite as much.
Bring a Stroller for the Kids
If your child has just outgrown the stroller, it’s a good idea to bring one anyway. Kids get tired easily when walking the fairgrounds, and you don’t want to depart early because your child’s feet hurt. If your child doesn’t use the stroller, you can use it to tote around the various items you buy at the fair.
You can take a shuttle to the North Carolina State Fair, but you have to drive most places. Make that drive more pleasant by picking up a new ride from Barbour Hendrick Honda in Greenville, North Carolina. Let us know what you’re looking for in a vehicle, and we will help you find the perfect ride. It’s that simple.
