Transmission fluid is crucial for your vehicle to change gears smoothly. If there is too little or too much fluid in your vehicle’s transmission, it can cause unneeded drag, which means that it takes more effort for your engine to switch gears. You must get your transmission fluid regularly checked to avoid unnecessary problems like clutch slippage or issues shifting gears.

How to Replace Your Transmission Fluid?

The first step to replacing your transmission fluid is to lift the vehicle if necessary. Then you need to pop the hood, locate the transmission fluid cap, and remove the cap. Next, you need to find the transmission’s fluid pan and then place the drain pan underneath the pan.

Remove the transmission pan’s bolts with a socket wrench. Let the fluid drain completely out of the transmission. Install a new transmission gasket then reconnect the pan’s bolts. Once done, pour in the prescribed amount of transmission fluid using a funnel. Remove the funnel and put the cap back on.
