Snap. Crackle. Pop. You might think we’re talking about cereal, but you would be wrong. What else makes these noises? Fireworks, of course. Summer is just beginning which means the Fourth of July is around the corner. Just like peanut butter and jelly, fireworks and Independence Day go hand in hand.
If you live in the Raleigh area, you and your friends should attend the Fourth of July firework show. As you and your loved ones stare up at the sky and see the bright colors, reflect on our country and the freedoms we get to enjoy each day. Also, think about all the ways we can improve America. After all, change is constant and we should all want to change our country and ourselves for the better.
The Firework Show
On July 4 at 6:00 p.m., you and your friends can enter the gates at the PNC Arena located at 1400 Edwards Mill Road, Raleigh, NC 27607. The fireworks are scheduled to launch at 9:40 p.m. The fireworks will be launched from the Varsity Lot at North Carolina State University which is nearby to the PNC Arena.
The PNC Arena
At the PNC Arena, you’ll find plenty of parking as well as restroom amenities. Parking at the PNC Arena is open to the public and free. Raleigh police officers will be there to help direct and assist traffic so the roads don’t get too crowded. For those concerned about the weather, don’t worry. The fireworks will be moved to July 5 in the case of inclement weather.
Why the PNC Arena?
If you’ve attended the firework show in the past, you’ll know that it was previously held Downtown. Because of traffic congestion and limited access, continuing to have the firework show Downtown wasn’t practical any longer. Unfortunately, due to this and several other factors, the fireworks have been moved to the PNC Arena this year. However, due to the new location, guests will be able to see the fireworks from all directions.
Other Events
There are several other local events scheduled on July 4. You can partake in the following events:
- Keep RLGH Independent 4 Miler
- 4th of July Day Party
- Barenaked Ladies concert at the Red Hat Amphitheater
- 4th of July Celebration at the State Capital grounds
