Drivers across the country are excited for the new 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback. While the Civic was previously available as a hatchback, it hasn’t been for a decade. Honda listened to customers, and the hatchback is returning for the current 10th-generation model. The Civic Hatchback officially went on sale this fall, so you can be one of the first in Greenville to experience everything it has to offer.
2017 Honda Civic Hatchback Configurations
Just like the other Honda Civic models, the 2017 Civic Hatchback is offered in the choice of LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L. There is also a new Sport Touring trim that you haven’t seen before. The New Sport Touring trim should be similar to the Touring trim on other Civics, complete with standard Honda Sensing, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and the LED headlights. The “Sports” portion of the trim name will be from its styling and the increase in power. The rear of the Civic Hatchback across the trim levels will obviously be different from its coupe and sedan counterparts with a spoiler bisecting the glass on the hatch.
Civic Hatchback Powertrain
Every Civic Hatchback will run on a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. On the LX, EX, and EX-L, this engine will generation 174 horsepower. The version found in the Sport and Sport Touring trims will get 180 horsepower. This increase is largely due to the center-exit exhaust. Regardless of the trim, the engine generates 162 pound-feet of torque.
Available Manual Transmission
In a first for Honda, the 2017 Civic Hatchback will let you enjoy the turbocharged engine with a manual transmission. In 2016, the Civic did offer a turbo engine for the sedan and coupe. However, you could only get it with a CVT, and the manual transmission was only available with a 2-liter 4-cylinder. You will get this 6-speed manual transmission as standard on the bottom three trim levels with the option to upgrade to a CVT. The top two trims still get a CVT as standard.
