Honda Sensing Technology Explained

Black Honda SUV on the street.

While offering phenomenal power and remarkably stylish models, Honda is synonymous with safety as the Japanese brand has worked tirelessly to create a system of safety technology with active and passive safety features to kick in to prevent incidents or respond to protect drivers and passengers when an accident occurs. This system is called Honda Sensing®, and the Barbour Hendrick Honda team is proud to offer new Honda vehicles that provide driving this exceptional safety system. Discover the features of Honda Sensing®.

Mitigating Collisions

You cannot control the traffic around, so Honda has created several features to help prevent potential collisions. With visual and audible alerts, the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), forewarns drivers of cars or pedestrians that are ahead. As you get closer to the oncoming object or person, pressure will be applied to the brake to avoid hitting the object. Stronger pressure will be applied to the brake if the CMBS detects that a collision is inevitable to reduce the impact. In addition, Honda Sensing® offers Collision Mitigation Throttle Control and Rear Collision Mitigation Throttle Control to avert acceleration if a driver has their foot on the gas but there is an object directly in front or behind the vehicle. Stuck in a Jam

During rush hour, you honestly sometimes cannot avoid traffic. If you are caught in a traffic jam, Honda offers Traffic Jam Assist which helps you while on the expressway to stay in the middle of the lane. The same thing occurs with the Lane Keeping Assist System which also detects road markers. When you a stuck in traffic, the Lead Car Departure Notification System alerts you that the car in front of you has moved forward if your attention has been stolen and you have not stepped on the gas. Thankfully, Honda Sensing® also provides Unintended Acceleration Mitigation if you accidentally apply too much gas as you move forward.

Assistance in the Car Park

You do not have to go far down the road to need safety assistance. Many car owners unfortunately can get dings and scratches in the parking lot. Honda vehicle owners do not have to worry about that as much thanks to Honda Sensing® features like the Parking Sensor System and Honda Parking Pilot. If an obstacle such as a light pole, a cart corral, or another vehicle is identified by the sensor system, a warning sound will go off alerting the driver, along with a visual image showing how close the obstacle is to the car. For those tight or difficult parking spaces, it is great to have the Honda Parking Pilot, which will help the driver to park easily with steering and braking assistance.
