The Honda Pilot is a popular SUV that many families choose over a minivan for reasons like its spacious interior, fuel economy, and engine power. The 2016 Honda Pilot has been redesigned inside and out. Greenville car shoppers will notice differences between this model and the 2015 Honda Pilot, but are those differences enough to sway someone looking at one or the other?
Honda Pilot Engine Comparisons
One of the main differences between the two models is the engine. The new 3.5-liter i-VTEC Earth Dreams engine comes with six- and nine-speed automatic transmission and is more fuel efficient. The difference is 19 mpg city/27mpg highway with the six-speed and 20 mpg city/27 mpg highway* with the nine-speed. Last year’s five-speed put up an estimated 18/24*. Horsepower has increased to 280 from 250 on the 2015 Pilot.
Honda Pilot Exterior and Interior Comparisons
The 2016 Pilot’s redesign has given it a more modern, streamlined appearance, which may have taken away some of the “brawniness” of the older model. It’s three inches longer, but weighs 300 pounds less, making it more fuel efficient.
The 2016 Pilot’s interior has been updated with new soft-touch materials, LED accent lighting, twin-touchscreen infotainment, and a transmission gear selector. There are also five USB ports. The 2016 Pilot is bigger inside than the 2015 model, leaving plenty of room for passengers and cargo for traveling around Greenville, or out of town.
Honda Pilot Safety Comparisons
The new Pilot has loads of safety features the 2015 does not, including forward-collision warning, automatic breaking, LaneWatch blind spot camera, and rear cross-traffic alert. These features have made the already safe Pilot much safer for Greenville drivers and passengers.
