The Honda Civic Type R TCR Is Ready

When it comes to quality vehicles, some are hard to beat. That includes Honda, a trusted automaker of premium vehicles. However, this year, Honda decided to do something different. It introduced the Type R TCR, a bona fide racecar.

Collaborated Effort

Honda Performance Development collaborated with JAS Motorsport to develop a TCR variant. Called the Civic Type R, it’s specifically for people involved with TCR Touring Car competitions. Based on the new FL5 generation, this amazing car offers more than expected.

Key Design Features of the Type TR TCR

This racecar boasts new bodywork. Included in that is an upgraded transmission and braking system. However, it also has an enhanced chassis. Not only that, but people interested in racing this car will appreciate both its power and appearance.

Whether you want the 2023 Type R TCR for racing purposes or to own a Honda vehicle, it’ll turn heads. However, Honda hasn’t released too many details due to how motorsport is so competitive.

Even so, Honda shared enough information to grab the attention of racing enthusiasts. Here are some of the details:

  • Widened front and rear fenders
  • Large splitter on the front
  • Race-prepped version of the 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine based on Honda’s road car
  • Enhanced chassis for improved handling around mid-corners
  • Updated transmission and brakes for excellent control on the racetrack
  • Aggressive and big wing exterior aesthetics

Here’s another piece of exciting news. For anyone who plans to compete in long-distance racing events, Honda’s offering an endurance version of the Type R TCR.

Coming Soon

Although Honda already released some information about this racecar, you won’t have the chance to buy one just yet. After all, it’s currently going through extensive track-based testing. Even so, you may get your hands on a 2023 Type R TCR as early as April of this year.

Honda came up with the TCR concept back in 2015. Racecar drivers still won 398 races and took 74 major titles. Just last year, this car won 77 races and received 19 championship crowns in Oceania, Asia, Europe, and South America. All of that speaks volumes as to what you can expect from the enhanced 2023 model.

An insider claimed Honda would only sell 546 of these cars starting in 2023 and ending in 2025. So, to become an owner of the new Type R TCR racecar, contact Barbour Hendrick Honda in Greenville, North Carolina.
