Sweden’s Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra Comes to Greenville

Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra

You don’t have to travel all the way to Sweden to see one of the best symphony orchestras in the world. Sweden’s Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra (HSO) is coming all the way to Greenville on Feb. 1. The symphony orchestra will perform at East Carolina University’s Wright Auditorium as part of the S. Rudolph Alexander Performing Arts Series. The symphony orchestra will perform selected works from Sibelius, Elgar, and Brahms. Tickets range from $10–$45, and they’re on sale now.

About HSO

HSO was founded back in 1912, and over the years, it’s established itself as one of the best symphony orchestras in the entire world. Its home season consists of 31 concerts, which is a tremendous amount to take on for any symphony orchestra. Add in the extensive touring schedule, and it’s no secret that these are experienced and ambitious musicians that can shine on any stage.

The symphony orchestra proved this when it performed three sold-out concerts at the Great Festival Hall in Vienna and Salzburg. That type of achievement is rare in the music world.

HSO also gives back to the community. For instance, it is instrumental in providing early education programs for children. It works hard to make music as inclusive as possible, and that mission shows in everything it does.

S. Rudolph Alexander Performing Arts Series

HSO’s performance might be the biggest draw for the S. Rudolph Alexander Performing Arts Series, but there are other exciting performances taking place, as well. The series kicks off with Dorrance Dance on Jan. 28. This dance company won a Bessie Award the first time it performed, so you know you’re in for a treat if you attend this performance.

The Gold Dragon Acrobats will perform on March 18 as part of this series. The company contains 35 performers skilled in acrobatics and traditional dance. Their performances are both breathtaking and gorgeous.

Broadway Live! is the last performance of the series. It will be on April 18, and it will feature six Broadway artists. These artists have stared in some of Broadway’s biggest hits, including Wicked and Jersey Boys.

It’s going to be a big year for people who love the symphony and the theater. It’s also going to be a big year for people who love vehicles.
