Pirates Are Taking Over Greenville

Pirate Ship for PirateFest

Watch the streets of Uptown Greenville come to life at PirateFest on April 13–14. This is the 12th annual PirateFest, and it will have the music, vendors, pirates, and fun you’ve come to expect. Each year, the event attracts locals, tourists, and students from the surrounding area, and this year shouldn’t be an exception. If anything, it will be even more popular this year since the 2017 PirateFest was such a hit. It had a nice assortment of veterans and newbies, and you can expect more of the same this time around.

Pirate Encampment and Reenactments

It’s hard to pick a favorite part of PirateFest, but if you were to try, it would probably be the pirate encampment and reenactments. Watch as pirates engage in sword fights and more during the heart-pounding shows. You’ll be oohing and ahhing as the reenactors transport you to the old days when pirates used to roam the open seas. Oh, and the reenactments aren’t cheesy. They are fun for both young and old alike.

The Music

The music comes in second, right behind the reenactments. The bands might not put on sword fights, but they do put on some great performances of their own. The Plain White T’s will be this year’s headliner. They’ll hit the stage on Saturday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Yep, this is the band of “Hey There Delilah” fame, so you’ll definitely want to check out the performance.

The Carnival

Who doesn’t like a good carnival? It’s hard to say if pirates were fans of carnivals, but you can still enjoy a huge carnival at PirateFest. The carnival will take place both days, and it will be full of rides. Consider putting on your favorite pirate consume before heading to the carnival. You want to blend in, after all, don’t you?

The Vendors

The vendors still haven’t been announced for 2018 PirateFest, but if it’s anything like it’s been in the past, you’re in for a treat. You can find an assortment of food and goods to buy, and you’ll even get to see some local art. The festival attracts an eclectic mix of vendors, so be sure to check them all out.

We also have a nice mix of options at Barbour Hendrick Honda in Greenville, North Carolina. Instead of sword fights and carnivals, we specialize in Hondas. From compact and efficient to large and rugged, we have just what you need in your next vehicle. It might not be a pirate ship, but it’s even better. It will get you to all the best places on dry land, and it will make those trips more fun.
