Do you have barbecue sauce pumping through your veins? You love barbecue like nothing else, and you can’t get enough of it. If so, the “Kings of Q” Cookoff and Festival was made for you. This year’s festival will be on May 18–19 in Ayden, North Carolina. There will be live music, cookoffs, and oh so much barbecue. If you have a taste for the smoky stuff, make your plans to attend.
The Barbecue Competition
The barbecue competition is the main event. People come from far and wide to participate or judge in the contest, while others just come to eat. There is a People’s Choice award, after all, so you have to try the tasty stuff. People compete in beef brisket, pork, pork ribs, and chicken. If you choose to compete, you don’t have to make something for each category, but it’s necessary if you want to be the Grand Champion or the Reserve Champion. Surely you want to take home the big prize, so you might as well dust off recipes for every category.
Don’t get your fill during the competition, though. There will also be food vendors at the festival, and they’ll be more than happy to fill you up on some delicious eats. You’ll be stuffed to the brim by the time you leave the barbecue festival.
The Events
The competition might be the main event, but it’s hardly all that’s going on at the festival. There will be rides available for the little ones, and crafts will be on-site. Oh, and don’t forget about the beer garden. That’s necessary if you’re eating barbecue. After all, beer and barbecue are a match made in heaven.
There will also be live music throughout the day, so be sure to stick around and listen to one of the bands. You can catch various artists at the different stages.
